The company had many problems with the TUFS investment. One of problems was the company did not have enough information about underwriting process when they plan and develop the new system. They had a lack of knowledge and information to set the right budget. When they start the system, they had unexpected costs, and it was one of reasons that the system could not save costs. Another problem was communication issue. Apparently, the company did not communicate with each other. Underwriters did not communicate with Martin’s technicians. People should understand the importance of communication based on this mistake. The company should design the effective ways to communicate with other department. Also, the communication should be two-way communication, so the both side could have same understanding of information. I do not have any personal experience, but my father had a similar experience like “investing in TUFS.” He works in the patent attorney office. My father’s office tried to expand the office in other area, and they needed the new system that could combine all office in one program, so each office and communicate to each other. It was not easy to design the new program by own because no one had skill to make a new system, so the office hired IT company that could make a program for them. My father told the direction about the system that he wanted. However, it was not smooth as my father planned. I remembered that my father was stressed with the new system. My father had to go through many problems with the new program. My father knew about the importance of communication between the patent attorney office and IT company. When the program was developed, my father was too busy to take care of everything. So, he asked one of his technicians to communicate with the IT company, if the company had questions about the program. However, his technician did not take this seriously.
