Do you know perhaps, where the taco originated from? What the components of a Taco are? People love eating tacos but do they know they are rich in culture, history and migration? As seen in the documentary, Ugly Delicious: ‘Taco.” A group of taco loving chefs in America go on a restaurant crawl in one of America’s hottest cities. To their surprise they were culturally shocked to discover America’s industrialized tacos. For a good taco there has to be a good tortilla which is made out of “masa”, corn flour, without it there would be no taco. As opposed to America’s version is the hard shell taco or frozen tortilla, it loses its culture because immigrants would make it from scratch to where they had to grind the corn to make fresh tortillas. Without any of the ingredients; cilantro, onion and limes, no salsa, a taco would not be a Mexican traditional taco. Tacos are served with the best of the freshness in quality ingredients. There is so much work that immigrants put into creating the taco. Its seem as if Americans have suddenly vanished are their hard work by producing an industrial taco that involves processed meats and frozen ingredients. It has made it difficult for the American taco to flourish with Mexican culture. As seen in the 2018 documentary, Delicious Ugly “It was a cultural shock.” American People need to realize that even though it’s not always at a fancy Mexican cuisine, streets tacos are always the best. Chef Enrique Olvera the owner of Pujol, one of the top 20 restaurants in the world is challenging people’s conception of what a taco can be, he wanted to put it in a more refined setting for people to come and enjoy. …show more content…
