Wouldn’t you want a leader like Queen Elizabeth II with these wise and assuring words? There is so much we can learn about Queen Elizabeth II, including her early and later life. She was born on April 21, 1926, as Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary. When Elizabeth’s father King George VI (the King of England from 1936-1952) died, she knew she would have to rise to the throne. This took place on February 6th, 1952. Then, on June 2, 1953, Elizabeth became the Queen of England. She later married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and they are still married today. They had four children, Prince Charles being the first born in 1948. During her reign, she focused on making things more modernized while also keeping Britain's old traditions as well. She is still alive today (age 91) and ruling as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. …show more content…

When Elizabeth became queen, it was a big deal all around the globe - she even allowed her coronation to televised, something very rare. Elizabeth did this knowing the importance of their neighboring nations witnessing the event. This was significant because King George VI had been sick for very long, and without a son heir, Elizabeth had to become queen. She was in Kenya at the time of his death, but stepped up, knowing her time had come. During Elizabeth met with 12 U.S. Presidents, including Obama, the Bushes, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Hoover, and Truman. She went on to become the longest reigning monarch in the history of Britain.
