Wegman’s Food Market has been around since 1916. They are an employee oriented organization that pride themselves on fresh goods and customer satisfaction. Since being founded, they have been on the “Forbes 100 Best Companies to Work For” list for 19 years and counting. They currently rank fourth on the list; increasing from seventh last year. Wegmans is recognized by their unmatched employee management and outstanding organizational culture, while also maintaining a large profit of 7.6 billion dollars per year as of 2015. With 117 work sites and over 44,000 employees, they remain one of the most popular companies to work for along the east coast of the United States.

This is a very important policy in order to keep employees happy. This way no employee feels like others are more important than them. It shows management cares about every employee, not just a hand full. Non birth parents in same sex relationships can take parental leave. This shows they take their nondiscrimination policy very seriously. They acknowledge even if a parent doesn’t give birth to their child, such as adoption or using a surrogate, it is important to take time off from work and spend time with your new child to build a relationship with them. Being a family company, they understand how important it is to be a good parent. Wegmans is also very flexible. Wegmans offers compressed work weeks and allows employees to submit changes pertaining to their availability and scheduling. They allow the employee to log into the company's online system and take as much unanticipated time off as they need. This is very important to employees because it not only reassures them that the company really does care about them, it lets them be aware that if an emergency comes up, the company supports them and they will be flexible enough to help them through it. If there is a family emergency or plans change for one day, Wegmans will be flexible enough to help give them time off. They also offer college tuition reimbursement.
