Charles Dickens stated in his 1859 novel A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only." Technology is better, so we can do more research and communicate with friends, family, and work more often. Some things I feel are not as good as the past is using too much of social media, and Terrorist groups attacking well known public places. In the past people were diagnosed with illnesses and diseases and just had to live with the fact that they were most likely going to die from something that they have no control over. According to the article “2017 is the deadliest year for mass killings in at least a decade” there was a total count of 208 victims killed in mass killings this year (USA Today). Also, it was said to be 358 mass killings, killing 1,883 people since 2006. I could just imagine what the number would be if they calculated the total deaths from the beginning of time. I believe if they just take weapons away or limit who gets one such as police, security, etc., it will decrease the number of victims as well as killings. Another worse thing of this century is the price of food specifically healthy food. In the article on Huffington post ‘Eating Healthy vs. Unhealthy Will Cost You $550 More Per Year, Study Reveals’ it states “They say that healthful food is simply more expensive than unhealthful food. Now, science backs them up” (Huffington Post). Since I could understand the value of money, and recently trying to eat a little better and get healthier I noticed that for myself that healthier foods were a bit more expensive then unhealthy foods. And I did not know how much until I read this article. In the Same article it states, “The most comprehensive study of its kind indicates that yes, unhealthy food is about $1.50 cheaper per day, or about $550 per year, then healthy food.” My first question is why? I could go
