Taming of the Shrew

Transformation, stress, society and class, family, and gender are all in the real world and in Shakespeare. Stress makes you irritable which makes you unable to focus. In the real world,when a friend cancels on you for someone else it makes you upset and stressed because you had already made plans and they canceled on you last minute so you have nothing to do until another friend asks you to hangout. Shakespeare shows in Taming of the Shrew that trying to force a marriage,lying,and time can cause stress because not everybody is cooperating and not everyone knows what exactly is going on but in the end all the marriages work out. Stress can lead to happiness because it forces you to solve problems.

In act three scene two Baptista declares “That Katherine and Petruchio should be married,And yet we hear not of our son-in-law.” (III.ii.117) Setting up a wedding takes a lot of time and money. So if the groom does not show up or does not communicate his being late this would cause a lot of stress for the family. Kate is embarrassed mostly about herself and her self respect. The family is most concerned about what to tell the guests on why the wedding is being held up. Bianca is also worried because she is the next to be married.
Marriage can cause stress by trying to control others. In act four scene one Petruchio explains what he is going to do to Kate to tame her. “This is a way to kill a wife with kindness. And thus I’ll curb her mad and headstrong humour.” (IV.i.208-209) Petruchio knowing what he is in for being married to Kate who is nagging and aggressive is wise in his ways.
