1. A leader who I admire whose behavior is primarily task-oriented would be my teachers. While my high school teachers feel understanding and concern for their students, they manage their classroom through task-oriented leadership behavior. Teachers provide students with specific instructions for assignments and homework. The tasked required by the teachers are meant to help the student increase their performance in school. Like an organization, a school has a mission and vision statement that the administration needs to create strategies to implement. By being task-oriented leaders in terms of behavior, the teachers can carry out the goals and objectives set by the school by helping students to increase their performance academically. Meanwhile, a school guidance counselor mainly uses a people-oriented leadership approach rather than a task-oriented approach. Guidance counselors focus more on the behaviors and feelings of the students rather than the academic abilities of a student. Rather than trying to find a way to improve a student's academic abilities through tasks and routines, guidance counselor helps student by providing emotional support and guidance. Authoritarian decision making occurs when leaders and managers make decisions without necessarily involving employees in the decision-making process. The limits of the authoritarian decision making style lies in that employees are not as empowered as those in companies that uses democratic decision making.
