Taylor grew up with music all of her life. When she was 11 years old she had the privilege to sing at a Philadelphia 76ers game. She sang The Star Spangled Banner for an audience of thousands! Taylor clearly gets her amazing voice from her grandmother Majorie MoehlenKamp who was a professional opera singer. Her grandmother lived from October 5, 1928 to June 17, 2003, so Taylor no doubt had some amazing voice lessons from her grandmother in that period of time.
Taylor didn’t actually know how to play guitar until she was 12, but her voice seemed to guide her through the early years. She started playing guitar, and writing her own music at the age of 12. She decided to sign up for musical theater at the age of 9. She was in 4 productions at the Berks Youth Theater Academy Productions. Music began to take over her weekends. Taylor was constantly performing at festivals, coffeehouses, fairs, karaoke competitions, and more. She fell in love with writing. She loved to write poems, and of course music. Taylor’s income was $57 million when she won this award. That’s higher than what Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Lady Gaga got paid! In that following year Taylor funded a $4 million dollar project! This project was the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall space that was dedicated to exhibits for children. When Taylor was interviewed about why she made this decision she said, “Music education is really such an important part of my life. My life changed so completely when I discovered writing my own songs and playing guitar, and that can’t necessarily all be taught to you in school because there aren’t enough hours in the
