1. Create an applied research project. a. Identify what type of applied analysis you would be conducting (process evaluation, outcome evaluation, needs assessment, or combination of any of these). This is a needs assessment analysis that targeted an old model of issuing identification cards to abuse victims trying to leave their abuser, which was problematic because of the time it took to issue the cards and the methods it employed requiring the victims to prove who they are. This assessment, evaluation of an old government model was to determine if the new model was more effective than the old model for this particular program and if the officials tasked with issuing new and or replacement identification to the women and their families
In addition, the biggest issue was trying to figure out what will work and what will not. Covering all this information in six weeks is a challenge, however, if each step is followed each week then it makes the process easier. If the steps are not followed, then the research proposal might not work because there is a process and for each step in the research process guidelines are put in place so that the correct decisions can be made for doing a research proposal. Furthermore, there are guidelines for data collection, data measurement, and levels of measurement to name a few examples. For my proposal the mixed method is being used and this does fit for the topic and the research might provide additional information when the research is
One is to “articulate the research problem and objectives”. Two is to “develop the overall research plan”. Three is to “collect the data or information”. Four is to “analyze the data or information”. Five is to “present or disseminate the findings”.
When an incident occurs, teachers must gather information from any involved parties. Research includes all forms of investigation. It can include interviews or searches. Once the information is collected it is analyzed. The student is then broth in to discuss the information.
The important lesson I learned regarding designing, planning and conducting research in early childhood is ethical issues. I gain knowledge of the significance of, confidentiality, and culture diversity, consent from all affected including teachers, directors, parents and children participating. They understand they may quit at any time in the planning stages of a research study, I gained insights on different methods of conducting a research project. What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet
The research methods include various research collection tools such as surveys, content analysis and participant observation. These are all used to collect data that creates a well-supported explanation for a theory supporting the researcher's argument or analysis. In reflection, there are strengths within using this method of research. One strength is the collection of valuable and reliable data.
Things they discuss would be do they find that the results of the research that was carried out accurate. They would also assess the approach they took whether it was the quantitative approach or the qualitative approach to see if they would use the same approach again and did they find it affective. They would also discuss in this stage the methods use in collecting data whether it was through interviews or questions and assess whether it gave them all the information in which they needed, whether they gave them accurate results and did they find that many people participated in the
Research, theory, and practice are the required components for this doctoral course, which the research must display critical thinking skills, and academic writing throughout this course. The researcher should state the hypotheses, find the variables, defined the terms, state the underlying assumptions, and find the delimitation and limits (Leedy, 2005). The research would use the critical thinking approach or systematic approach, which involves collecting the information, attempt to understand the components of the topic of the research, and evaluating the topic to enlarge the research and find the conclusion (Leedy, 2005). Things the research must remember to stay grounded in theory and current in practice are to remember the scientific research must adhere to strict protocols, and guidelines (Roberts, 2010). The researcher must aim to imply, test, hypothesize, predict, or explain the research (Roberts, 2010).
During my time at placement I was given the role of a Nursery Assistant; My duties were to plan and prepare activities for children, read stories, nappy change them, observe and make notes for use in their reports. I was also a key worker for one child, I had to monitor their progress and share information about their development with their parents and carers. The setting was a warm and welcoming environment, I found that all of the staff were very friendly and reassuring. The placement lasted for four weeks and I worked from Monday to Friday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM. On my first day I arrived at 10AM for my induction and was introduced by the manager of the setting to the other members of staff.
During my course with NSCC, where I am studying to become a Continuing Care Assistant. Each student is required to work in a continuing care facility alongside other health care providers for a month. I attended skills development placement at Harbour View Lodge located in Sheet Harbour. This placement has given me the opportunity to apply my knowledge, and skills that I have studied and practiced in the classroom. When entering the facility the first week I felt nervous and excited at the same time.
Connections Between IRB Training and Internship Observations There is a fine line between having academic freedom in the classroom in order to promote achievement and the systematic investigation that includes human participants. In schools across the nation, educators incur in methods to enhance teaching and improve student learning, however there are ethical considerations when student data is included in such research. The IRB training is a valuable tool for anyone who is in a position to develop research, testing and assessment of any kind. Both teaching and learning often requires research. Therefor knowing how to identify the differences between a research and a surveys and how to protect the participants is imperative.
One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student. In addition, I had the opportunity to strengthen several essential skills such as organizational skills, leadership skills, and communication
Methodology In my thesis I utilized the quantitative content analysis method. There are many definitions of this research method from different authors. Most of the definitions include similar principles. The research should be systematical, objective, quantitative and replicable.
This module and coursework requirements were directed to present some crucial and effective experience for me. During the entire course, I had learnt a number of different learning, which can be proved quite helpful for me to build a successful and attractive career ahead. I can present the significance of the coursework activities done in terms of my learning from this subject. The reflection of the coursework learning can be presented as below: Problems faced during the research work: Although I have been able to finish my coursework requirements within the time frame.
Final Reflective Paper The decision to return to school is a significant step for adult learners, particularly after a long absence from formal learning, and there are many factors in making that decision. Perhaps to develop or achieve professional goals, higher career status, professional security, or to personal goals, such as, seeking knowledge and new skills. As adult learners, they bring lived experiences and develop knowledge to the classroom, most are self-directed, goal oriented, therefore, have different ways in approaching learning and may require particular learning environments.
