In “Finding Nemo,” Andrew Stanton uses unique techniques, such as, brilliant colors and phenomenal computer animations to teach his younger generation of audience to never give up, be brave, stay positive, don’t fall under peer pressure and that it’s okay to be different because God made you the way you are for a reason. Finding Nemo starts out as two clown fish, Marlin and Coral. They live in the Great Barrier Reef in an anemone and have multiple eggs that are about ready to hatch. Andrew Stanton uses phenomenal colors schemes and computer animation in the opening scene. The colorful coral reef pops amongst the blue ocean water. During this scene, Nemo and three other fish separate from the group and play a game of chicken. Nemo decides he is going to show his bravery of the ocean and swim to a boat floating near by. He touches the boat and as he is swimming back, a scuba diver snatches him and takes him away.(Finding Nemo) In this scene, Andrew Stanton is illustrating to his audience to not fall under peer pressure, like Nemo. He knew the ocean wasn’t safe, but he went out of his comfort zone to show off for his classmates which resulted in great consequences. It also shows children a glimpse of reality and how quickly life can change by one simple decision. It proves to children how important the decisions they make are, and how their life can transform in a matter of seconds. In life, it is easy to get off track or become lost, and this scene is a great way to illustrate that to the younger generation of audience in a format they can understand.
Throughout the entire movie of “Finding Nemo,” the animations and colors are phenomenal. Although, a few scenes stick out compared to others, for example, the jellyfish scene is very visually appealing and draws the audience's attention in with the amazing graphics used or the Great Barrier Reef is organized well by giving the audience multiple unique items to look at. Nemo, Dory, Marlin and many other fish were captured by a fishing net. Nemo came up with an amazing idea to swim down, so the net could not be pulled up. All the fish worked together, in order to, break the net and be free. Marvin told all the fish to swim down, and Nemo exclaimed, “That’s my dad!” Nemo was extremely proud to call Marlin his dad, unlike the beginning when Nemo was embarrassed by his dad when he came to school with him because he was scared to let go. All the fish chanted, “just keep swimming,” which is a very popular and motivational quote from “Finding Nemo.” To me, that quote says to stay positive and to keep moving forward no matter the consequences.
