Technology in schools is a big controversy nowadays. Should there be more involvement or less? There should be less in school because it causes students to not have the capability to think and have creativity for themselves, a lot of valuable class time is wasted, and money is flying out the window to afford the newest technology.
The internet is taking valuable skills away from students. There is so much in front of kids on the internet, the imagination starts to disappear (Dyson 5). That does mean alot, if all the information and creativity of other people is right in front of you, it makes it harder for students to develop on their own. The information online isn't even the full truth half the time (Dyson 5). If students are given faulty information, they will be thinking things that even true and will never know. Everything is done for students online and it makes it harder to learn and develop their brain (Dyson 5). For example, if students at school always use a calculator for simple math, when they go to give change back at a store they have a hard time doing it in their head because they are so used to it already being done for them. Technology is very expensive, coming in at about five hundred dollars an item depending on what you buy (Welsh 14). Teachers are becoming too dependent on technology. They want a device so they can stand anywhere they want in the classroom, instead of having to walk back to the computer to change their slide (Welsh 14). Laziness is costing schools a lot of money. Schools should put their money back into the school, fixing it up, or improving what they already have.
