In Florida there are 27 Congressional Districts. The Representative of the 21st District is Ted Deutch. Congressman Deutch, a Democrat, has been a member of Congress for four terms. Deutch is 49 years old and is originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He is married to his wife Jill, and they have three children: Serena, Gabby, and Cole. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. In the House, he is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Ethics Committee. Some of his main priorities in Congress include economic opportunity, immigration and the security of the U.S., Israel, and their allies. However, there are a few things that I disagree with. Deutch is a supporter of the Affordable Care Act and “Obamacare,” while I am not. Most of the issues on which I disagree with Congressman Deutch are issues that pertain to our different political views in general, ie. Republican vs Democrat. As a member of his district, however, I agree with many of the efforts he makes to make our community better. One of the main issues I completely agree with are his pro-Israel efforts. Deutch is a member of the same synagogue as me and I am familiar with his work. His efforts are definitely appreciated in a district with a thriving Jewish community. The non-Jewish members of his district appreciate his anti-terror efforts. I also completely support his efforts to make cell phone use in cars illegal. Distracted driving, specifically involving cell phones, whether calls or texting, takes too many lives of not only teenagers, but many other people in our country. There have been too many cases in my district alone, one of which happened very recently to a 16 year old girl.
