The Extraordinary Life of Tennessee Williams Thomas Lanier Williams, known as Tennessee Williams, was born on 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi. Williams’ childhood was mostly happy, however, when his family moved he felt as if he did not belong and felt lost. This was probably the best thing that has ever happened to him because having that feeling of being lost is what brought him to write. In his early adulthood, he went to three different universities: University of Missouri, Washington University in St. Louis, and finished his degree at University of Iowa in 1938 with a bachelors degree in English. Williams spent his whole like being afraid of one thing, which was him having a fear of death. However, he did say how as years go by he tried to get over the fear of death, however, he still had a fear of death because he did not want to die if there was unfinished work he had to finish. Tennessee Williams died on February 25, 1983 at the age of 71 in a New York hotel. The cause of his death was from an overdose of alcohol and pills, which was first thought to be the cause of him choking.
