Tennis players during the season are competing on different kinds of tennis surfaces and every surface has specific characteristics. Because of that reason tennis players and their coaches should be aware that it might require different type of preparation for a tennis tournament on a specific surface. This is being researched because it should provide helpful information for tennis coaches how to prepare tennis players for such occasion. The main purpose of this study was to determine which tennis surface between …show more content…

However, matches usually last a long time and because of that this research study was focused on how fatigue affects service performance after the simulated match. The main purpose of the researchers was to determine how service efficiency is going to differ compared before the match started and after the match was played. In order to test this phenomenon, researchers collected eight tennis players and divided the process into three stages. Heart rate and rating of perceived exertion were used in order to determine fatigue level. First of all, they have tested the service accuracy and speed before the match and then, in the second stage, the match, which lasted one and a half hours, was played in order to cause fatigue. Final stage occurred after the matches were completed and player’s service efficiency were measured again. The authors of this research find out that fatigue affected service performance and this reflected in decreased first service percentage, while also a slightly bigger number of double faults was noticed in the third stage of the test. Authors concluded that even though service performance decreased while comparing the first to the third stage results, there was no significant difference between factors such as service accuracy and speed. The researchers also suggested …show more content…

This research article is focused on how tennis players changing their tactics while competing in one of the most important tennis tournaments called Grand Slams which takes place every year on three different surfaces such as clay, hard and grass. One of the main reasons this is being researched is to discover how tactics are changing in the game of tennis year by year. In order to do that researchers collected data from three different 2010 and 2011 Grand Slam tournaments and compared various variables such as service accuracy and speed, number of unforced errors and duration. Researchers find out that male tennis players were decreasing their first and second service speed and in that way tried to increase accuracy of the serve. This was a consisted finding comparing to all three tournaments. Unforced of errors increased just on the slower surface, which is clay court, and the probable reason for that was that the players tried to be more aggressive and finish points earlier. Authors of this research study concluded that players changed their playing style and played more cautious on the faster surface, while more offensively on the slower surface. This article is suitable for my research topic since service performance are one of the measurements and it also provides information about how trends and tactics are changing. I
