For our science fair project we are testing the flexibility of athletes. We are both cheerleaders for our school and thought it would be cool to do our science fair projects on the flexibility of not just cheerleaders but different athletes as well. We know that for some sports you have to be more flexible than others. Flexibility is how far you can bend, stretch, and twist your body. Our project is important to scientific research because it can show people what sports you need to be more flexible for. We believe that out of all the sports we are testing that cheerleading will have the most flexible athletes. Our research questions we researched were:
What is flexibility?
What sports do you have to be remotely flexible for?
What are some ways you can increase your flexibility?
What are some stretches that test your flexibility?
How do you measure a person’s flexibility?
We expect that the

We started our research and we started with the basics: What is flexibility? “Flexibility is defined as the range of motion of your joints or the ability of your joints to move freely. It also refers to the mobility of your muscles, which allows for more movement around the joints” (study.com). After we found out what the actual scientific definition of flexibility is we decided to research what can increase your flexibility. We found that some of the best stretches to do to increase your flexibility is the following: sit-and-reach, the fold-over stretch, the reclining pigeon, the standing thigh release, the butterfly stretch, and the hip flexor/quad stretch. To calculate how flexible a person is we are going to take a picture of them doing the stretch. Then we are going to look at the angle the stretch creates and measure the angle and start to narrow the athletes down from
