Texmex has adapted its way up from native americans. In the 16th century Natives lived in what is now Texas. After 300 years Texas was part of the Spanish colony (New Spain) , and Texas and Mexico remained linked till 1821. Since the Spanish separated from Texas, Texas lost it rights and gained them back 15 years later. Because of this movement Tex Mex cuisines were influenced from the Spanish and are here in the United States today.Today there are all sorts of Tex Mex and Mexican food. For example Taco Bell. Taco Bell has been around for a long time now. They serve Tex Mex food including, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos. Tex Mex foods were influenced by the early Mexicans ,but are cooked differently. The difference most people don’t know is the ingredients between Tex Mex food and traditional Mexican food. For instance in traditional Mexican food people mostly use corn instead of wheat to make tortillas. This is one of the most commonly missed.Today there are a lot of differences and similarities between these two kinds of food. A similarity would be how they prepare their enchiladas. In enchiladas both Tex Mex and Traditional Mexican prepare it by filling it with ground beef. This is surprising because Traditional Mexicans rarely use beef and mostly only uses pork and chicken. Another is how they cook their tortillas. When tortillas are made they make the dough first ,but there is one difference in making the dough. Traditional Mexicans use corn and Americans use Wheat ,but for the other parts they are the same. When making tortillas they press the dough on a hot surface and watch the dough rise up a little when fully cooked. That is the easiest process of making tortillas. The last reason on how they are the same is their dressings. In many Tex mex and Traditional Mexican foods most of their dressings are the same. …show more content…

Now the next time you go to a restaurant and they serve you cheddar or any kind of yellow cheese it's possible that the restaurant is Tex Mex. The last difference I have is the condiments. At a Tex Mex they will usually use Cumin on cuisines such as Chili Con Carne, burritos, Chimichangas, etc. Usually at Mexican restaurants they wouldn’t use that ,but will use Chilli Powder instead.If you want to go to a Tex Mex restaurant I recommend you go to Taco Bell. I say this becauses Taco Bell is a restaurant that sells foods that are based on Tex Mex. This includes using cheddar cheese for toppings and using wheat instead of corn to make tortillas.(To name a few ) If you want to go to a Mexican restaurant I recommend you go to Fiesta Ranchera. This restaurant is based on the very first traditional foods of Mexico. This means that they use the original recipes including corn to make tortillas and using white cheese instead of yellow. From all of this I can conclude that Tex Mex food and Mexican food have their differences and are not exactly the
