New Media Interactive Art Project Research:
I’ve been very interested in wall and floor interactive installations, as to how one can interact through projections and how our body movements can do something very interesting.
One such interesting installation was from 1999, title the “Text Rain” by Romy Achituv & Camille Utterback. This interactive installation was about falling letters on the projection on the wall to something quite magical. It allowed the audience to practically lift and play with the letter falling from top. Here, they just had to stand in front of the projection in space. Also it is their motion that the letter will be able to respond to these slight movement of the participant. So, therefore the letters can be caught, lifted or just allow them to fall. The interaction with a person is done in such a way that any falling text or letter will land on anything that is darker than a certain threshold, and if not it will just fall in space of the projection. The whole idea of this interactive installation is that is that if an audience participating catches enough letters for example on his arm, it can read a text or even a phrase. Therefore, these falling letters are not really random but rather form specific lines from a poem. I find this quite interesting as I’m a person who writes poems, and this is quite fascinating how such falling letters can interact with human body and read out a poem to you. I would
