No job is safe with modern day technology. This is the opinion maintained in the article, “Better than Human: Why Robots Will- and Must- Take Our Jobs,” written by Kevin Kelly. He discusses the increasing automation in the workplace. The author believes that machines are growing so sophisticated that our replacement is inevitable. Kelly does a good job on informing the reader about the intellectual growth from robots; however, he scares the reader with robots future role in the workplace, causing people to not see the true benefits of technology.
Kevin Kelly does a great job informing the reader about how robots are growing more intelligent every day. People think that the “smart robots” should look and conduct themself in a human manner. This is the same thing as expecting a plane to flap its wings as if it were a bird. Robots think different and act different too. People must rid the thought that machines will be humanlike. Future jobs that humans will be able to do-at first. Last but not least, robot jobs that we can not even imagine yet. The author predicts that 70% of occupations will likewise be replaced by automation. He says that after robots replace assembly lines, they’ll replace warehouse workers.
