The Black Sox Scandal

The 1919 Black Sox Scandal was a defining event in the history of the MLB Major League Baseball . The Scandal was started because of affairs within the Chicago White Sox, Involving the owner Charles Cominsky and 8 players that deserved better treatment. The players teamed up with gamblers to throw the world series and make some money, but it didn't end as planned. The Corrupt Gamblers and Players involved in the black sox created skepticism in the baseball community.
The underpayment and mistreatment of the players was the spark of the 1919 Chicago Black Sox Scandal. The Chicago White Sox, a professional baseball team owned by Charles Comiskey, was on track as the preferred team to win the 1919 Series 5 votes to 1. Their record was 88-52 and their opponents in the series were Cincinnati Reds ("Baseball: The Black'' Vol 3). During this seemingly perfect season, there were issues off the field. Things went downhill when the players started showing their dissatisfaction with their salaries. Regardless of how well they played or what they did, Cominsky did not improve their salaries or their playing conditions.
