Becoming a Nurse Introduction to Nursing was the first job I was ever interested in. This is because my mom is a nurse and I always find the stories she tells about nursing fascinating. Once I knew that with nursing I could help people achieve good health, I knew I wanted to pursue the profession. A nurse is a person trained to help prevent diseases and assist those with illnesses. Researching this career will be the next step in determining if this career is right for you. Family members would care for the sick where they lived before hospitals existed.” (Cohen) Present-day nursing is way different from how those in the past used to see it. Now, nurses must complete schooling before being allowed to enter the hospital as a professional. Technology has also advanced enough for nurses to be taught in a virtual setting, and have more hands-on experiences. I enjoyed learning about the different types of nursing, as well as learning about how they help their patients. I am more interested now than I was before because I have a clearer picture of what steps it takes to become a nurse, and I feel that I have those skills. I hope to intern as a nurse in the future so that I can extend my knowledge even more.
