A Basque work of early twenty-first century, from the author Bernardo Atxaga (1951- ), provides favored moments and characters for a representative study of masculinity. This paper seeks to explore gender and masculinity, and specifically fatherhood in the novel The Accordionist 's Son (2003). To perform this analysis, it will first address the significance of the masculine, what means to be a man in different socio-cultural contexts centered and focused on Obaba and by itself on Basque paternity.
