The American Dream once gave people hope for a good life in America. Americans once pictured living in this great country with a spouse, kids, a nice house, financial stability, a healthy family, good education, and a happy life. While some people can still achieve the American Dream, whether it is by luck or hard work, many Americans have lost hope of the American Dream. Money is a huge factor in why the American Dream is so much harder to achieve today. America has hit an all time low with lack of financial stability, an expensive higher education system, and a bad health care system stripping away citizens money. Many jobs have been cut in America due to technology and government spending cuts. This has caused many Americans around the world to lose their jobs, or make significantly lower salaries. While Americans continue to lose their jobs or make a lower salary, prices on many goods in America, such as houses and groceries, continue to rise. Also, many Americans are not financially literate. This is another huge reason why Americans are not financially stable. A big chunk of Americans do not know how to spend their money wisely. They do not have a budget, have a savings, or keep track of what they can spend. They live paycheck to paycheck. Millions of Americans go into major debt to attend college, which makes it harder to start a family, buy a house, and save for retirement. Many Americans that go to college are in debt for the rest of their life. This makes many people not go to college to avoid the cost and debt.
