The American dream is not as easy as people say it is. The American Dream is being able to afford the necessities you need, without having to struggle and suffer just to put food on a table for their families. People think it’s easy to live the American Dream, but little do they know that there are people out there struggling to support their family. The American Dream is difficult to achieve but very possible if people could find the opportunity and available to them.
The American Dream is a dream that all mankind has. A lot of the common people place confidence in the fact that poverty is one of the biggest factors holding people back from that dream. People who agree that poverty is detrimental and will not let people achieve the American Dream find ways to help them be able to experience it. Some people might assume that poverty actually helps them achieve the American Dream. Each year the poverty rates are increasing tremendously and will keep increasing if no one takes action.
In Ben Franklin’s essay he thought success was being morally perfect. For example, he said, “I wished to live without committing any fault at any time…” Sandra Cisneros’s essay wanted to teach people to turn their problems into achievements. For instance, she said, “I’ve managed to do a lot of things in my life I didn’t think I was capable of…” These sentences from their autobiography both are explaining how they’re going to reach their goals of success.
The whole source of the American dream is want, wealth and love are just an effect of desire. In the present generation the American Dream involves having the biggest house the newest phone and car and the name brand clothing. About 80 Percent of Americans are in debt. This is because the are living above their means and they have to keep borrowing more and more money just to stay afloat and to feel better about themselves.
Coming from a poor generation of families can be a major issue. Although anyone has the choice to make a change, The American Dream can be an almost impossible achievement for those in debt, search for money, financial issues, and poor quality of education knowledge. Reality can be suited as something that is very much real instead of a dream, which is an image or ray of hope that something could become real, but most likely never does. Nothing or no one can stop a person from chasing their dream if the person is willing to stand alone and work for special achievements.
The American Dream once gave people hope for a good life in America. Americans once pictured living in this great country with a spouse, kids, a nice house, financial stability, a healthy family, good education, and a happy life. While some people can still achieve the American Dream, whether it is by luck or hard work, many Americans have lost hope of the American Dream. A person can look at the American Dream and think that they are living it but they are not realizing what it really is. People may think that they are living the Dream because they have a nice home with a big yard and a nice car but they have so much debt that they will not be able to ever pay it all off. This country lives off of credit and if you do not have it you will usually not be able to buy a nice home or car. If children are not taught at a young age that they need to be aware of what they can and can not afford and how to save their money, it could result in hurting them for the rest of their lives.
