“As time goes on we get closer to that American dream of there being a pie cut up and shared. Usually greed and selfishness prevent that and there is always one bad apple in every barrel,” - Rick Danko. No matter what happens, nothing less than nuclear war will completely kill the American dream. Only then because everyone would be dead. Nothing will destroy the hope humans have for the American dream but that does not mean it is achievable. The American dream is not possible in the United States of America today. The terrible economy, the abysmal people, and rotten society of today have ruined the chances of that.

Ronald Reagan in his farewell address, said, “We’ve got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom - freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise… It’s fragile; it needs [protection],". The fact that our president knew what kind of danger America’s freedom is in years before it would become a big issue again, reveals that we have not changed at all. Change is required for evolution to take place. Nevertheless, America is taking a huge step in the wrong direction of the American dream. Another quote that bothers me is something Manson wrote, “The sad truth is that fewer people today are getting ahead than before...and they’re getting ahead not due to their hard work or their education as much as their connections, their family’s socioeconomic status, and, of course, just the plain luck of not getting horribly sick or getting into a serious accident,”. A few minutes on any social media site will convey the overwhelming wish to die already, so there would be no objections to being killed in said accident or from the mentioned sickness. Additionally, hiring is based more on opinions and bias rather than a reasonable basis that can be met through hard work. If a person cannot meet interviewer’s, or even the business's, standards then they will be rejected faster than you can say “employment
