Greek myths are stories created by the ancient Greek people to express phenomena that they could not understand. Ancient Greek myths teach lessons and ways of life. There have been many myths explaining lessons of life. An example of a myths would be the myth of “Demeter and Persephone”. Another meaningful myth is the “Midas Touch”. Lastly the myth of “Daedalus and Icarus” explains lessons as well. The modern reader can learn valuable moral lessons from the ancient Greek myths. There is no doubt that the myth of Demeter and Persephone teachers very meaningful lessons. Demeter was the goddess of agriculture, so she was in control of all that sprung from the earth. Daedalus was a skilled craftsman and artist. He is the father of Icarus. Daedalus made the labyrinth which was a really complexed maze for King Minos. Daedalus offended King MInos by telling his daughter how to help the great hero Theseus escape the labyrinth and when he escaped he took King Minos’ daughter with him. Due to that Daedalus was put into the labyrinth with Icarus by King Minos. They both escaped the labyrinth and Daedalus made wings from feathers and wax. Daedalus told Icarus to follow him and not go to high because the sun will melt the wax. Also he shouldn’t go too low because the waves would tear his wings. When Daedalus and Icarus were flying, Icarus followed Daedalus for a while but felt so free that he went higher and higher. He didn’t listen to his father and his wax melted. Icarus’ body was floating on the waves below when Daedalus looked back. This myth teaches an evident lesson to always listen to your elders and parents. Including another lesson, take the middle path. This means not to be risky, relating to the book that would mean not to fly too high and not too low, take the middle
