When taking into consideration the application of mental agility and how its benefited myself and the Outside Activities Committee (OAC), I strongly believe that it's improved my overall performance. Each skill learned from practicing mental agility carries the utmost importance and potential for overcoming challenges. After reviewing various studies and applying my knowledge from the previous semester, the concept of mental agility has become quite clear to me, as I practice it on a daily basis to benefit myself and others around me. In terms of nonverbal mental agility, through practicing and applying these skills have increased my level of self-awareness with nonverbal social cues. I’ve noticed my enhanced ability to detect theses cues and read the expressions of others when communicating, as well as, recognizing the effect of my nonverbals on others in a conversation. This level of self-awareness has improved my overall communication, as I continue to examine the meaning and learn the importance of nonverbal behavior. Ontheotherhand, the application of general verbal communication has greatly improved. The improvements i’ve noticed most frequent include, remaining mentally sharp and flexible when engaging the decision making process, especially in a group setting. When applying the skills learned in the previous semester and the current one ongoing, i’m capable viewing how I socialize from a different perspective. Rather now, i’m more open towards ideas, and improve upon the signature strength of judgement to form opinions in social situations. Simply examining a conversation from multiple perspectives and especially taking the speaker's opinion in mind, has allowed for me to both relate and activity participate further in discussions. Nonetheless, I still lack in a few areas to where the application of the resilience skill of self-awareness has been most beneficial. One of the difficult issues i’ve been working with this semester is my ability to concentrate. Fortunately, by applying self-awareness, i’ve recognized this issue and have strived to correct and improve my overall mental agility. In the past few weeks, i’ve been applying new strategies to remain mentally focused, such as, increased level of exercise, sleep, and simple breaks in between studying to recollect my focus. One of the exercises in between breaks, is the application of diaphragmatic breathing and meditation techniques. When mediating, i’m capable of refreshing my mind by directing my attention away from irreverent thoughts.
