A lot of people turn to mysteries when they want something to read. The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin, is a great one for all. The students at GLMS read it and then watched the movie. They were trying to figure out the answer to the riddle and they did. The Westing Game book and movie contain similarities and differences that are worth looking into.
Traci Brimhall's essay "Failures are special because they belong to us" is an exploration of the value of failure in the creative process. According to Brimhall, failure is a necessary and even unavoidable element of the path to success and can provide important opportunities for learning. Brimhall makes a strong case for the value of accepting failure as a normal part of the creative process by drawing on her own experiences as a writer. Through the use of rhetorical devices such as pathos, Traci Brimhall effectively uses emotion to build her claim of failure being an essential part of the human experience that can help us grow and develop as individuals. Traci Brimhall's use of pathos is evident throughout the essay to make a compelling point

My mother, comparatively, did much better than my father in school. One of the reason’s she was a better student was because she had a lot of support from her friends. The friends that she hung out with were also family friends because my mother’s and their families enjoyed spending time together and were socially similarly structured. Her and her family lived in the same city since my mother was born, so she grew up with the same friends and attended the same school for years.
This is an important role of poetry because everyone loses something precious to them at some point in their life. Her next example talks of a person who can receive
I socialize with a lot of different people. You can’t just stick with one group when I am in multiple groups writing my story in multiple books. It is hard to categorize and make a story about someone diverse in who they are. When I think about this story that Adichie gave, the story that popped into my head was about the immigrants coming into our country because it is constantly front and center in the
“Musee des Beaux Arts” is a poem about the tragedy of Icarus, and his outcome. The first example of human failure coming from neglect is the disregard for the possibility of a disastrous situation. “That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot” (Auden). This example is saying yes bad things will happen, but we need to ignore it and push it away. They neglect the fact that something bad could happen.
From reading the title "One Art" and reading the first line of the poem, which says: "The art of losing", it first made me believe that the one art referred to the art of losing and that only. For lines 1 through 18, this indeed proves to be true, however, it is not until the last line of the poem where I realized another type of art is introduced-art that we write. Elizabeth bishop is telling readers to "Write it!" , which is what she does in this poem. She expresses her feelings and details of loss through verse.
In Elizabeth Bishop's “One Art”, she explores the themes of memory and sadness. In the first stanza, the speaker says “So many things seem filled with the intent to be lost is that their loss is no disaster” which shows that she understands some things are meants to be lost. This is important because in the end of the poem, she wants to believe that all losses can be accepted. The line in the third stanza “None of these will bring disaster” is read as if she is trying to convince herself that loss isn't a “disaster.”
When the author says,“Then practice losing farther, losing faster”(line 7) you can tell that the objects are going to getting more sentimental and harder to lose. The poem ends with her greatest regret, losing someone she loved. The element that interests me in this poem is how understandable the feelings that she
Specifically, I changed my major from Information Systems to Information Technology a year ago. Due to a spinal cord injury I suffered two years ago from work, IT is a better fit for me in case my physical abilities remain the same. I have been paralyzed and on the wheelchair since then and very thankful for that, knowing that it could've been lot worst. One thing I realize for sure is that true friends are priceless. With the traumatic injury I suffered and the changes in my life, true friends definitely came to rescue and helped me keep a good spirit.
