Definition of education: the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university and that is what To Killl A Mockingbird does to every reader, it educates them.To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee shouldn’t be banned. In the book it discusses topics about racism and how it affected people when it was still a major thing. The lessons the readers can get from the book and the knowledge that they can get from this, will be able to be used in the current world state. The book has been banned in some places due to racist language and inappropriate situations. Now this may be true, but the book has to show and say stuff like this to show how racism can affect someone and a family. Atticus says, “Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (Lee 119) This quote is a great representation of how racism affected Americans, it is saying that the black people are just mockingbirds and all mockingbirds do is sing they don't do anything bad. This is shown subtly throughout the book but it is always there saying how racism affects people's lives. This quote shows the reader how racism is not even due to bad things like a black person could just look at someone the wrong way and due to racism that person could be killed. Racism was a thing almost 50 years ago and it affected probably millions of lives which is why this book should not be banned because it shows us kind of the dark side of history. Another reason that To Kill A Mockingbird should not be banned is the knowledge that the book can give the readers on current and past world
