I was disappointed with the movie because of how many things they changed. If they made the movie more similar to the book, it would’ve been much better. They tried too hard to make a good movie and they strayed away from the main points of the book. Something informative I learned from the book is how badly slaves were treated. They didn’t really show that in the movie.
Also the little things that caught my attention like when Sarny screamed after Nightjohn lost his finger and when Mr. Waller made Mrs. Waller slap Sarny. In the book their was less things going on, their was less descriptions, and it was not as specific. I liked the movie more than the book because in the movie you can see how the characters looked. In the movie you can see the kind of person each character is like if they were nice or mean. Also in the movie you could see the pain in a slave’s face after they were whipped or if the got their finger cut
The writing in the chapters is very detail oriented and it makes it very easy to imagine what is going on. A lot of times throughout the book it seemed like I was right there, or it seemed like I was watching a scene from a movie.
In the end I found the film to be easier to understand vs the book as it was an easier and more straight forward plot line whereas in the book it seemed to jump around leading to constant flipping between stories and pages to get a better
It held a lot of repeats in different word arrangements. I was able to understand a lot of the vocabulary in it. This book, while it may not become one of my favorites, was very educational and I did enjoy reading it. However, I was unable to discern Kasson’s bias in his writing. I enjoyed reading about Shirley Temple because I’ve watched a few of her movies when i was younger and I feel in love with her character.
All of the characters personalities in the movie were so bland and boring. The events that happened in the movie looked way different than the same events that were pictured from the book, in the book, in a certain event that America was screaming, swearing and throwing objects everywhere and breaking stuff but, in the movie America screamed at Rosie and swore a little bit then ran out of the room. In the movie, the acting was kind of laid back and made every exciting part of the movie less exciting.
I can understand who are the characters and what they look like. If I had to choose I would definitely see the movie rather than read the book. As you can see I would rather like to watch the movie. However, some examples are is the comprehension .
Between the World and Me is a book written as a letter to 15-year-old son of Ta-Nehisi Coates. The book is about the childhood of Coates, series of events, and the experiences that he has been through throughout his life as an African American in this country. Coates uses an honest, heartbreaking and bleak tone to address clearly how difficult it is for being an African American with racism, unfair treatment, segregation and murder. Through the book, Coates also shows his belief that there will no answer or any solution for race relations, he believes that the race’s conflict is from itself and part of the Dream that keeps one group in power over another. Because the world is not as it seems, and Coates worries about his son’s future
I enjoyed the book a lot and the movie a lot but the movie was missing some detail. The movie and the book have many differences and similarities on reading the book and watching the movie. When you are watching the movie you have a visual picture and you are hearing the sound. But when you are reading the book you have to make the characters voices
It included lots of details and action. That is what I relish in a book. My favorite part was when the white witch and her crew tried to hurt Aslam. ( The king of Narnia) THe author just added so many details to make a precise explanation to what
That was where I went whenever real life was too hard or too inflexible” (Gaimen, 77). Often, when the narrator was in a time of struggle, he would just dive into the world of books. Due to these times, the narrator started to often alternate between the two worlds. The first world is with Ursula Monkton and his dad who constantly revolted against him, and the other world is books. The world of books was seen as a world of endless thoughts, he would get lost in his books and forget about whatever was bothering him.
The first thing that stood out to me was the way the directors of the movies cut out very important scenes from the book that needed to be in the movie for it to make sense. An example of this is the scene in the
On the other hand, parts of the book seemed contrived and unreal, and additionally, the book felt very drawn out. The book contained very long subplots that did not add to the story. Furthermore,
It had more narration so the reader could understand what is happening. Secondly, the movie. The movie was different than the book. It had some parts that were in the book, but it lacked some details.
“No two persons ever read the same book” (Edmund Wilson). The beauty of books lies in the ability of literature to present itself in a way that it can be perceived differently by individuals. While the greater meaning behind the book is ultimately delivered in the same way, the views and knowledge are absorbed differently by the reader. Where one reader may find answers to questions, another may find the opposite to be true. By this notion, pieces of literature challenge the mind to think critically, and by doing so, enriches the mind with knowledge and insight on topics one does not normally think about.
