The Jews’ time in Babylon was called an exile because they were forced to leave their homeland. During this time, the Jewish religion became known as Judaism, and they met on the Sabbath in order to worship. The Sabbath occured from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday and took place at the synagogues, in order to give people hope.
Once the Persians had beaten the Chaldeans and won the land of Babylon, the Persian King Cyrus let the Jews go back to their home land. Most of the Jews went back and recreated Jerusalem, along with the temples. Since the Persians did not allow the Jews to have a king, scribes and priests were the leaders. Under the guidance of Ezra, the scribes wrote five books which later became part of the Hebrew Bible.

In this story, Daniel, who is an adviser of the Babylonian king, gets sent to a den of lions because he refuses to believe in the Babylonian gods. However, he does not die because God protects him. This story shows that God will always protect the Jews, and how the Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe that good will beat evil.

The Jewish laws also emphasized supporting the poor, self-control, and how the Jews should be dedicated to their religion.
Because the Jewish law banned the making of fabrics, women had to make cloths out of flax or wool. Men wore tunics of linen, cap, turbans, and sandals. On the other hand, women wore plain dresses, shawls, leather shoes, makeup and jewelry.
Sons were important to the Jews as they carried the family’s name, upon the father’s death. At a young age, children were taught by their mothers, followed by economic and religious studies for the boys. On the other hand, girls learned about household business and becoming good wives as they studied Jewish food and clothing, as well as courageous women in the Bible, one of which includes Ruth.
Due to the various dietary standards, the Jews were not allowed to consume certain foods, some of which include pork and smooth-skinned fish. Jewish foods must go through a set of preparations called kosher, where animals are specially killed, seasoned, and soaked. In ancient times, the Jews mainly ate fish, fruit, vegetables, and barley
