Book Report: Esperanza rising was a very interesting book. The main character started off happy and rich then went into poverty, had to move from her home because of a fire, and had her mother get sick without her abuelita being there. She had also lost her father because of bandits. She has had a difficult time because of all of this horrible stuff happening to her. At first she was still a little bratty and thought she was still the best thing in the world; but as the story went on she noticed that not everything has to revolve around her.
and I have in common is being hard working. Giles shows that he is hard working by helping John Proctor. He helps John out by assisting him in carrying his lumber. One way I exhibit that I am hard working is by putting forth effort into band. I work as hard as I can with learning the music and the field show.
Parvana experiences discrimination which is key to her coming of age. The story takes place during a time in which women and girls in Afghanistan are not allowed to go out without a man escorting them. They are not permitted to attend school, go to work, go shopping, use the bus or even go outside of their houses to get fresh air. This is shown when the narrator says, “Buses were not permitted to carry women who did not have a man with them” (Ellis 40). When Parvana’s father got arrested Parvana and her mother had to walk a long distance to see him because they did not have a man accompanying them.
Second, Paravana went to the graveyard to dig up bones even though she knows it’s a risky job. She “[wasn’t] sure this was a good idea.” ( Ellis 94). Graveyards are already scary but made scarier when you are digging other people’s bones. The last reason is Parvana was out on the streets after the curfew accompanied by

The man grew angrier and angrier and began shouting at Parvana. Parvana's mother tried standing up for her daughter, but it only angered the man more. The man began to beat the mother aggressively before she and Parvana went home. "She's only a child, she meant nothing to it.” ‘She drawing attention to herself, she should be at home, not displaying herself at the market.’”
Everything in life has similarities and differences as long as you're looking for them, but some have more than others. Comparing similarities and difference between two things in life is making a compare and contrast (book) . When comparing and contrasting two pieces of literature you have to observe not only the themes of them but also the plot. Fences by August Wilson and My Papa's Waltz by Theodore Roethke have many similarities and differences throughout the literature due to themes and the plot.
Yes, Queenie and I are similar but she is a fictional character and I am the real thing. Queenie and I are both smart, in eighth grade, and my dad was in jail, and Queenie’s dad was in the state penitentiary, so that is how we are
An archetypal hero appears in all forms of literature, mostly known for its presence in religions and mythologies, but the hero itself is an expression of our “personal and collective unconscious” (Campbell’s A Hero With a Thousand Faces). In the novel, The Girl With a Pearl Earring, the main character, Griet, is arguably an archetypal hero due to her actions and character. The novel portrays a realistic fiction genre–taking place in the 16th century–about a maid named Griet, who has to support her family by making a stable income. As she serves a painter and his family, Griet has to mature early, learn the hardships of being a maid, and deal with the multiple conflicts she must face if her family will ever survive. Yet as Griet recognizes
The symbols present in “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara, depict the economic and social injustices faced by specific members of society, specifically the children in the story. The characters in the story are being mentored by Miss Moore, a woman from their block who has taken up the role of taking them out on weekly outings. The story touches on the situation of the children that are stuck in living in almost poverty. “The Lesson” focuses on the socioeconomic disparities between the different racial groups and how. Bambara uses several techniques such as irony, othering, and second person point of view to make the story meaningful and demonstrate the characteristics of the characters.
The female protagonist continuously puts herself in treacherous and menacing situations as a result of the sacrifices she makes. Consequently, the female protagonist is forced to go on an adventure where she realizes the cruelty of the world and was able to
Physical, emotional, psychological, and occupational similarities are found. Every time, without exception, someone will say that so-and-so reminds them so much of one of their living relatives, a son or daughter, or sometimes of themselves. And another heart is turned. I love
they could hold her down and cut off her hair but for anymore they needed her cooperation. In the end, it was her decision.” This shows that Parvana is persevering through this action because she is does not want to become a boy and not even to mention cutting off her hair.
