Murder is a deplorable crime that leaves behind a trail of devastation and grief for the victim's loved ones. There are many motivations behind such a heinous act, making it hard to determine the criminal. The case of Adnan Syed, who was sentenced to killing his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, focuses on the many possible reasons why a person would commit such a hateful act. Despite the concrete evidence that was never shown, a number of reasons could show what could have led Adnan to commit such a horrendous crime. One reason could be that Adnan was driven to kill Hae after she broke up with Adnan. In the podcast “Serial” by Sarah Koenig, Adnan expressed his anger over the breakup. The breakup could have lashed out anger which could have driven Adnan towards violence against Hae, leading her to her demise. However, this is one possibility out of many that could have motivated Adnan to commit such a horrendous crime. Possibly, Adnan and Hae’s secret relationship could have led up to Hae’s tragic death. Also, Adnan’s religion affects the relationship which leads up to Hae Min Lee’s tragic death. …show more content…

When Sarah says “ The state said Adnan was guilt-ridden about lying to his family about Hae “ ( Koenig “Serial” episode 2 ) This shows that Adnan had feelings about how he kept keeping his relationship a secret between his friends and family. Adnan being “ Guilt-ridden” could have caused him to be so frustrated it led to violence after the break up which could have also led to Hae’s death. Not only did he affect his relationship with Hae but with his parents who could have lost Adnan’s trust by not telling his parent also got him more frustrated to the limit to where there is violence. Another thing that may have got Adnan to be so violent was Adnan lying and feeling so guilty that he couldn’t take it
