The United States was not the only country to go through this change. The United Kingdom also changed it education system, from free education to paid education. In the documentary Higher Education found on Kanopy, focuses on the government and their reasons to why they started charging tuition in the United Kingdom, shows that the government gave authority to education institutes to charge students a maximum of 1000 pounds a year so poor students could benefit from these charges. But as the years progressed the maximum was set to a higher value, and educational institutes were given the option of raising or keeping the value as the same, yet they immediately raised the fees of attending to the maximum. Human greed immediately took over in both situations. The American institutes began to charge more and more, and with these changes in the education system less and less students started to attend Universities. After these changes in education took place less students attended Universities and more people started to just work. Education became about profit. Once private institutes realized the profit one could make from education, more institutes opened, and other businesses opened around the education system. To attend universities, one needed a lot of money hence people started to take loans. New and old banking institutes started to offer these loans, making a huge return on their investments. Publishing companies upped their prices on books. Books that use to cost $45 now cost $200. The Publishing companies then would change the books every couple of years to make more money. The entire education system had now become about profit and many businesses started to profit
