When thinking from a perspective, the audience often focuses on the basics, such as a small part relating to the movie, when there is so much more depth and understanding that comes from it. In The Maze Runner, directed by Wes Ball, the audience's perspective changed when the main character, Thomas, does a very outrageous act to prove himself, which results in a completely different ending than most assumed. One moment that influenced the point of view of Thomas differently was his choice to run into the maze. For some background, the maze was something people would not mess with. It was super scary; it changed in cycles constantly, it was crawling with monsters, and whoever entered at night would not make it out alive. Because of all of this, people were simply scared to be close to the doors. Outside looking in, no doubt anyone would want to go in there; it is a death wish. But Thomas did not care; he spirited in to save someone he had just met, hoping to prove himself and show everyone he could on their level or even higher. This moment changed the audience's perspective by noticing that he is not the weak kid everyone viewed him as. It allowed the viewers to see that Thomas had some balls and was willing to do what most people would not. Before this event, Thomas was, once again, viewed as a new kid that is frail and did not fit in. But after running in and showing all the people of the maze that he is worthy of being there, he deserves to be treated like everyone else no matter the time of day. Regardless of the movie, the viewers realize that Thomas is much more than others portray him to be. They used him as a stereotype and underestimated the power he had. But when everyone thought all failed, Thomas stepped up once again. He gathered a group of survivors together, and they ran for hours through the maze. Until they escaped, they were finally free, no walls to live behind, just fresh air and natural grass to relax in. Thomas stepping up in that moment of despair changed the audience's perspective on him. When the audience feels that Thomas has done enough to help, he becomes the bigger person and leads several people to safety. This plot twist initiated the audience's final perspective on Thomas. They saw him as brave and categorized him as the leader he hoped to be. Without the doors not closing, Thomas would not have had his final breakthrough and shown his capabilities.
