Wes Moore Essay
"The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his." Both of the Wes Moores were born into very similar situations. Their decisions are what separates their lives and they will always be haunted by how their lives could have turned out. Both boys had extremely similar childhoods, but their mother's effects on them and their decisions would alter their paths in life. It is insane how similar both Wes Moores grew up yet how durastic they could alter. The Moore's fathers were not present in their lives. Westley Moore's dad died when Wes was very young but Wesley Moore's father left him for drugs and alcohol. They grew up in bad neighborhoods that were infested with drugs and hustlers and the neighborhoods are what arose the issue. A final example of how they grew up similarly is that the both got in trouble with the cops.

Wesley's mom Mary wanted her son to succeed but she never gave him a reason to. On the other hand, Westley's mom Joy wanted the very best for him, and she decided to enlist her parents to help raise her kids. Also, Mary didn't care if Wes did good in school because her school career wasn't the best. Joy wan her Wes to be the most educated he could be. She not only got to go to college, but she finished with a degree. Most importantly, the two lives were altered because of the Moore's decisions. Wesley chose to sell drugs and he knew the consequences of it. As a kid Westley did graffiti but his mom found out and sent him to military school. Wes didn't like military school at first, but he learned to appreciate it because that was how he was able to get out of the streets. Wesley had opportunities to get out, but he never went through with them. In fact, Wesley Moore was sentenced to life in prison because he chose to rob a jewelry store that ended up with a cop
