The Civil Rights Movement was a big part of blacks getting treated equally and having the same rights as everyone else. But even after slavery being abolished racism against blacks was still a thing and will forever be a thing. Civil rights was based on a struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States. The reason the Civil Rights Movement started was because The Brown vs The board of education which overturned desegregated schools across the nation. Schools, especially in the South, were slow to comply, and attempts to register blacks often broke into violence. The primary causes were discrimination, racism, and white supremacy. But even though slavery was abolished there is still a lot of racism to this day. The Brown vs The Board of Education was separate but equal thing with Blacks and other races which was the Plessy vs Ferguson decision in the Court case. The NAACP and Thurgood Marshall took up their case with similar ones in South Carolina as Brown vs The Board of Education. The Brown vs The Board of Education was made on May 17, 1954 because 5 separate cases were heard by the US Supreme Court because of segregation in Public Schools. That is when and why the Brown vs The Board of Education Laws were made. The way it was made was with the Plessy vs Ferguson decision case.
The Jim Crow Laws became a thing in 1865. The black codes were to minimize african americans so that blacks can get an education and go to school. Even though racism is still a thing it helped them get a life and have a good life. But then there was a thing called segregation which separated black people from white people in schools. But black citizens were not able to vote. As a result of these laws blacks were able to do a lot more things then they used to be able to do. Homer Plessy, a person who was white was arrested for violating the separation act. Black passengers were not allowed on a bus. The Supreme court elected that segregation was allowed in 1896 but when Plessy was arrested they didn't agree with this law. Which led to a lot of things that were bad. …show more content…

He invented school so that people can learn with teachers and know math reading and writing and other stuff. He opened the school in Birmingham. He made the school with permission from the court and with money to build the school and do stuff for people to learn in the school. With all this information you will know the who, what, when, where, why, and how he made and opened the first school. The way this relates to the civil rights movement is that the massive effort to desegregate public schools among the United States was a major goal from the civil rights movement. That explains the relations with school opening in 1955 and how it relates to the civil rights
