The poem relates to the novel, The Clockwork Orange, as it is speaking about the importance of Alex’s beloved stereo. The stereo in the novel symbolises Alex’s fate. Throughout the novel, we see Alex in his greater moments whenever he had his stereo near him, stated in the poem as,“With it, I am at my best.” Throughout Alex’s hooligan lifestyle, he would usually succeed doing whatever he wants, stealing, break and enter and property damage; Alex and his friends usually get a way of doing these nasty deeds without getting caught.
