After World War II, it was one of the most scary and threatening time in our history. This was the Cold War, a state of political hostility between countries characterized by threats, propaganda, and other measures short of open warfare, in particular. Mainly between the two powerhouse countries, the USSR or known as the Soviet Union and the United States. Back to back both countries were competing to see who was strong. They were in the Space Race, even though the Soviet Union was the first in outer space, but the United States was the first to the Moon. Incase any country of the NATO alliance was attacked, all the countries part of NATO would support the country and fight to get rid of the invaders. The Warsaw Pact alliance was created and founded before NATO, so all the Western countries was threatened and creating NATO for defense. While now the NATO alliance is still here, but the Warsaw Pact came to an end when eastern countries and the Soviet Union became independent countries. Besides the USSR and the United States, almost all the other countries were part of an alliance called the non-alignment movement. The alliance was about having peace and not taking sides in the war.
