The Compromise of 1850 was a battle of slavery and the northerners and southerners tried protecting it where it already existed. In the beginning of 1850, the country was on the verge of falling apart. During the year of 1850, events occurred creating slavery a bigger issue. The southerners and the northerners were trying to decide which states would be free states in which will have slavery. California was decided as a free state which created conflict. The war over slavery remained only for four years until the land blew up. It was settled in 1821 with the Missouri Compromise. The United States was placed in a position of having to accept. The Congress set demands for voting and officeholding, and also holding the right to disallow. The important point concerning the Northwest was that it add up to a compact between the original states and the people and the states of the new territory that had certain rights. During 1787, it fell into disuse for a certain amount of reasons. It may provide for close control through the powers of governors in the government, but it led to an oversight. States and courts held that the Northwest Ordinance’s would be replaced by any supply in the U.S. or in a new state constitution. It was based on the theory that the new state and Congress had decided to eliminate that one presentation. The law of the Northwest Ordinance as a constitution, for the territories, defining that one individual and the rights of territorial residentsas well as the as the powers of Congress, had been abandoned. Douglas’s similarity did not fully come to name with the basic that the colonies had themselves and generally been the royal in the seventeenth century.
