Amy B. Wang and Kristine Phillips question the choices the Weirton Police Department in West Virginia made on the career of Stephen Mader, who recently lost his job after he hesitates to shoot, in their article, “‘Just shoot me,’ an armed man told a cop. The officer didn’t and was fired, his lawsuit claimed.” On May 6, 2016, Stephen Mader received a domestic dispute call, and “once on the scene, he encountered a “visibly distraught” man named Ronald J. Williams.” ( Mader tries to convince the man to lower his gun, but Williams refuses; therefore, when Williams raised his gun, another officer killed him. A month later, Mader was fired for not following the police department 's procedures.

Minneapolis police and prosecutor worked with this case in order to bring
As he follows exact instructions, police are still leery of him. While on the ground with his hands in the air, Dr. Charles Kinsey is shot in the leg as an armed policeman, Jonathan Aledda, fires for no apparent reason. To make matters worse, Florida police vet of sixteen years, Emile Hollant, is suspended because of misleading statements during the investigation. The actual officer
The accused, Wendell Clayton, was found in possession of a loaded illegal handgun which is banned under Criminal Code, R.S.C. 1985, c. C-46. A caller inside the coffee time store called 911 at about 1:22 reporting that there were around 10 black guys in the parking lot of The Million Dollar store, a strip club, across the street from him. The caller reported that certain individuals, 4 of the 10 black guys had guns on them and were openly displaying their handguns in the middle of the parking lot. Police immediately responded and within minutes the officers set up a roadblock in front of the exits to the location. As there were two entrances into the club’s parking lot, the officers positioned their vehicles so everything and anything harmful
Some may argue the attack would not have taken place if Campbell were not able to secure the firearm from the armed security guard. Campbell was a highly motivated and opportunistic killer who would have ultimately made good on his promise to be a cop killer, either that day, or another day. This incident is a perfect example of what a determined and highly motivated killer can do when they have no regard for their own life or the life of others. Officers must train and respond properly to deal with such a premeditated and vicious attack. It should be noted, almost two years later when the investigation results were made public, it was disclosed that Campbell had PCP and alcohol in his system at the time he shot and killed officer Santiago (McDonald,
"The nearly 10-minute video shows Yanez pulling over Castile on a wide street on a clear summer evening. Yanez approaches the white 1997 Oldsmobile and leans in to speak through the driver's window. Another officer approaches but stands farther away on the passenger side. Yanez tells Castile his brake lights are out. Thirty seconds into the conversation, Castile begins to tell officer Yanez that he has a weapon.
At 12:02 p.m., Mr. Wilson calls in to the dispatcher to notify about the two men while moving his police unit to block not only the two men but traffic as well. According to New York Times, a dispute started to arise between Michael Brown, who is facing the front driver’s window with his hands spread to the side to display that he means no harm, and Officer Wilson sitting on the driver’s seat of the police unit. Due to conflict between Michael Brown and Officer Wilson, two bullets were fired from Officer Wilson’s gun one hitting Mr. Brown’s thumb briefly while the second bullet missed him. After shots were fired, Michael Brown began to run east along with Officer Wilson trying to chase him on foot. Once Mr. Brown comes to a competent halt, he turns in order to face Officer Wilson.
The weird thing was that never again after the shooting did he ever say those words again(Lewis). He also never mentioned anything about the taser, or that it was a mistake. Other officers had stated these facts to jurors while being questioned, which put up questions for the jurors. No one knew what to exactly believe about the whole case. I believe that Mehserle was frightened by grant, and in this instant, he chose to use his gun.
In today’s modern society, many feel that is okay for a police officer can kill a man armed with a harmful weapon at any cost. On many news channels, there are various amounts of articles and reports about a police officer committing this act. Even though a police officer has the right to take action against an armed man, this could be argued in many circumstances. In the 2013, Sammy Yatim was a young adult with a mental illness and was armed with a weapon on a streetcar in Toronto. Yatim was confronted by Const.
My reason is because even though Sammy Yatim had a knife and was threatening passengers in the streetcar, he still had no weapon to fight back with that could go against a gun. James Forcillo could have easily figured out a different tactic instead of firing his gun nine times and to Taser him after the body was already wounded; what more could he have done while already laying on the ground with nine bullets in him? Police officers should have better strategies to deal with people who are not always in their right
Tamir Rice was a twelve-year-old boy playing in the snow at his local park, making the mistake of waving an air pellet gun at strangers- a mistake that would cost him his life. A bystander made a call to 911, and when the police arrived on the scene, within seconds of exiting the vehicle, Rice was shot. According to an article by the Pittsburgh Tribune, although police have been caught in the act, captured on camera committing a crime, they are not prosecuted 96 percent of the time. November 22, 2014, twelve-year-old, Tamir Rice, was playing and posing with his air pellet gun when a man sitting in the park called 911 to report, “there’s a guy here with a pistol, pointing it at everybody… [The gun] is probably a fake, but you know what,
When asked why he shot the teen the officer responded he seen a pistol on
On November 15,Officer Jeronimo Yanez was charged with manslaughter and various gun charges due to a shooting at a routine traffic stop. On July 6, almost 5 months ago, Officer Jeronimo Yanez pulled over Philando Castile, with the assumption that he was involved in a robbery that happened a few days prior. Mr. Castile had his girlfriend and his child in the car when he was pulled over. After handing the officer his license and registration, Mr. Castile that he was armed, but there was a permit for the gun with his papers.
They definitely did not have a reason to brutally arrest them and proceed to draw weapons. It was definitely a classic case of prejudgment, racism and law enforcements power
Since the 2016 election Trump has changed the slogan “Make America Great Again” into policies. This has caused many countries to change their opinions about America in the next four years. Many European people believe Trump will not put the right policies into places for the world benefit. Many believe Trump is opening up a power gap in military power and economic power on a global scale. Trumps is not worried about the world because he believes other countries are strong enough to fix the problems that might bubble up.
