It has come to my attention that the school district has decided to put a ban on smartphone and other electronics from school grounds. I believe that banning smartphones is an unwise decision, despite the fact that cell phone can disrupt class and distract students from learning what the teacher is teaching, but phones can be used as a teaching tool and is a way for students to keep in touch with adults before and after school then putting the ban on cell phones encourages kids to use their phone during class as an act of rebellion. My first point why phones should be allowed at school is that it can be use as a teaching tool. Some school have allowed students to use their phone in class because the teacher can send them digital textbook straight towards their phone. cutting cost for the school from buying and replacing textbook and can minimize the need to cut trees down to make paper. At the Craik School in Saskatchewan, Canada they ran an experiment with smartphones and it turned into an essential part of their curriculum. According to Mrs. Taylor a teacher at Craik School “that we look at them as tool for learning”. Students have used their phone to set reminder for homework or upcoming test.
