Literature has served humanity as a strong instrument for transforming and broadening our worldview. Throughout Mark Haddon’s novel, ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (2003), readers follow the perspective of Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Haddon's use of literature compels the audience to reflect and reconsider their own perspectives on neurodivergent members of society. Using the distinctive quality of Christopher’s unique perspective, it enables the audiences to gain an insight into the psyche of neurodivergent people. In addition, it also portrays the impact of children diagnosed with ASD and its effect on a family’s dynamic which prompts the audience to reconsider their own perspective on neurodivergent people. Through the use of Christopher’s subjective perspective, Christopher’s ASD allows the audience to view the thought process of a neurodivergent person. This perpetual list would be generally dull and tedious to neurotypical people due to its repetitiveness which correlates with impatience or boredom. However, this action is used to help Christopher cope because of his interest in mathematics which is due to his affixation of order and logic. Another instance in which Christopher's subjective perspective gives the audience insight into his mind is the digression chapters. When reading the novel it is apparent that Christopher goes on tangents somewhat randomly which is evident when Christopher is being driven to the police station, he randomly begins to talk about the milky way as he looks out at the sky and on the next page, which is a new chapter, Christopher goes into great detail about the milky
