The Dangerous Movement of Socialism in the U.S

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money,” strongly stated by Margret Thatcher. When she stated this, she only pointed out one known problem of the economic theory of Socialism. The growing movement of socialism gives hope to many but what people do not realize is that socialism will take away many of our freedoms and liberties, that socialism has failed in past countries that had socialism, and that soon, with socialism the government could start to control more that our money. I believe that if we, as a country, accept socialism, then our economy and our hard working American spirit will vanish.

Socialism was a theory where the government controls all means of production. This means jobs, money, health care, food, housing and more where all controlled by the government. This also meant there was no means of private property unless you were a government worker. The point to have everything taken care of by the government was that everyone would be equal and there would be no social classes such as high, middle, and low class. I’d like to promote to inform and educate more citizens about the dangers of socialism. We as a country should inform most socialists about how their idea of “equality” would strip America of freedoms that we learned about in all our years of history classes. Also to make sure that America is educated, we should start teaching the history of socialism in other countries to youth in public education so that we could prevent socialism in the future. Id also like to promote that we should always know who we are electing to our local, state, and national offices. We should do our research on canadtes so we do not elect someone who would danger our economy. And furthermore always vote to ensure that you did your part in protecting America’s freedoms and liberties
