When I first picked up the book The Dew Breaker by Edwidge Danticat, I expected the author would have similar writing style as Junot Díaz's book Drown, such as having each chapter be its own story and the some of the characters being immigrants. When I finished reading the first story "The book of the Dead" and moved on to reading the second story "Seven", I expected the main male character to be the father of Ka from the first story and the wife to be Ka's mother, thinking the story is about their past before Ka was born. I thought this way because from the book Drown, the main characters remained constant in the first few stories.
