The Case The disappearance of Caylee Anthony had developed into a case full of lies and unanswered questions when her mother, Casey Anthony, gave fabricated information to law enforcement authorities. Caylee Anthony was only two-years-old when she disappeared without a trace after spending a weekend at her grandparent’s home. She was last seen with their daughter Casey, and after a month of being unable to see their granddaughter, Casey’s mother Cindy, had reported to the emergency operator that Caylee was missing. The incident immediately became a priority as law enforcement authorities had set up search and rescue teams to locate the child. However, after talking to the nanny it was discovered that her and Casey never had any contact, let alone Caylee never have been in her care. Further into the investigation, Casey’s father George had reported that Casey had stolen gas cans out of the shed that was located on her parents’ property, and that she took their vehicle without permission. The gas cans were eventually returned to him by Casey, however, the vehicle was impounded due to being found abandon. The investigation ultimately shifted when it was reported that a foul smell was emanating from the vehicle. An air sample was taken from inside the vehicle and determined the smell resulted from the storage of a decomposed body. Generally, a mother provides the necessary essential to raise and nurture the well-being of the child. Their love is usually expressed through shared laughs, affection and even love. In reality, a mother’s child who goes missing for month would be extremely devastated and deeply sadden. They would not wait until so many days go by to report the matter to their local authorities. They would not party with friends, go shopping at department stores, or hang out with their boyfriend while their daughter has vanished. More importantly, a mother who is broken by their child disappearance would not refrain from sharing their pain with family and close friends. However, Casey Anthony did not show any of these emotions when her two-year-old daughter was gone. In fact, she was not even the person who reported her missing to the emergency operator. Also, Casey fabricated false information to law enforcement officers who sole missing was to bring back Caylee. Casey’ demeanor and her unwillingness to help locate her daughter gave signs that she was a mother who did not care too much for her child. Therefore, I believe text messages that were not permitted into the trial could have been used to further explain Casey’s behavior and motives (Casey Anthony Trial, 2017).
