Victims Of Crimes: Teri, Alan, And Jee Young

Teri, Alan, and Jee Young are all victims of different types of crimes. They talk about their victimization, either direct or indirect, in detail in the video clips. Teri is an indirect victim of homicide. Alan is a direct victim of assault. Jee Young is an indirect victim of hate crime. Even though some victims may be indirect victims, the crime still has a significant effect on them. All three of these crimes have shown to be detrimental for each victim and his family. Teri was a mother of a sixteen-year-old boy, Anthony. Anthony was part of a gang; which Teri was not aware of. The gang members murdered Anthony and left him inside a trash can. When Teri was shown Anthony’s dead body, she could barely recognize him. The only way she was able to recognize him was through his fingernails due to Anthony’s finger biting habit (Teri, OVCTTAC, Victim Impact Video). Teri believes her son wanted to live, and believes that what occurred to him was not fair. This belief of injustice stems from the Just World Theory. She chased the assailant away, which prevented the aggressor from inflicting more injuries on Alan. Alan was able to receive some medical assistance, nevertheless, the medical personnel had to send him home after six days due to Alan not having medical insurance.
