Racism in Eastside High School There are many discriminated schools in the world to this day, most of them having to take place in the lower income areas. While in Eastside High School, in the movie Lean On Me didn’t seem like one of those trashy High Schools with a poor foundation of people. Yes, there were many students in their that weren’t the richest, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that before Mr. Clark had left the school, Eastside High was very mature and clean. Students aren’t taught bad things on their own.
In this day and age, many believe racism to be an issue of the past, when as a matter of fact, it is still frequently impacting peoples lives all around the globe. Unfortunately, many issues regarding racism occur in the sporting world. In Australia, it occurs most often in Australian Rules Football, or in the major competition, AFL (Australian Football League). It is a widely accepted idea that the players and spectators of a sport, rather than the sport itself have a direct impact of inducing racism within that particular sport. Relating to the AFL, the main offenders of racism are the spectators, who are commonly abusing players of different race to them.
The film District 9 was directed by Neil Blomkamp and released in 2009. The main actors in the film were Sharlto Copley who portrays Wikus Merwe and Jason Cope who portrays Christopher Johnson. The film is meant to depict the life of an extraterrestrial race that was forced to stay on earth in deteriorated conditions, while also facing discriminatory treatment from humans. Thus, District 9 demonstrates racism through the aliens, the process of dissociation of Wikus as a human, and how the director intended to humanize the aliens to the audience.
Daniel J. Losen wrote a policy brief called “Discipline Policies, Successful Schools and Racial Justice.” This piece is a compilation of reviews conducted by researchers that address racial disparities in schools regarding disciplinary policies. Arne Duncan, the Secretary of Education, delivered a speech that suggested “that students with disabilities and Black students, especially males, were suspended far more than their White counterparts.” For example, research conducted in 2006 found that “over 28% of Black male middle school students had been suspended at least once, nearly three times the rate for White males.” () Another key point is that law makers and school officials should keep schools safe while using alternative practical methods

Racial integration of schools is well elaborated in the two articles by Pettigrew and Kirp. These two articles say that combination in the American schools since 1954 has unceremoniously ushered out the Brown versus Board of Education which was a decision made by the Supreme Court. The topic of discussion of these two articles hence is relevant to our course since it gives us the light of how racial desegregation and racial integration shaped America’s history.

It is the “hatred” of one person to another individual, solely based on that person's belief that the person is inferior because of their language, birthplace and skin colour.
