Should We Help The Homeless? As once written by Andrew Carnegie, “The problem of our age is the proper administration of wealth, so that the ties of brotherhood may still bind together the rich and poor in harmonious relationship” (Carnegie) Homelessness has been around for centuries, just like the debate over Americans helping the homeless or letting them fend for themselves. There are many aspects must which should be considered in the argument of whether we, the American people and higher class, should help them or not; such as the ethical values of the situation from both the poor and those involved in helping, the cultural and social causes, and effects on their lives.
One of the biggest issues facing this great nations citizens and even some of our war hero veterans, is that of being homeless. As well as residing in poor income housing and very poor conditions. With the number of homes and land available throughout the country, and the majority of it being owned by private interest and banks is an outrage. If we do not deal with homelessness and poverty, we may end up like Detroit, Michigan.
For major social issues like racism and homelessness they are very hard to solve. Many times they are just being managed and not solved. Sometimes it’s easier to just manage an issue and keep pushing it away for a later time, until it starts being a big problem and costing society a lot of money. Like racism they try to manage it by having separate but equal, but it is still racist. Martin Luther King Jr fought for civil rights for many year, he used peaceful protest for his cause.

The number of homeless people sleeping on the streets of the United States hasn't changed over the years. Many people use the least effective ways in helping the homeless. On the other hand, the most effective ways in helping the homeless are: giving homeless people a voice, giving the homeless access to shelters without being judged on how they behave, and supporting the non-profit organizations that want to end homelessness. A great way to help the homeless is giving homeless people a voice.
Let 's talk about ways we can do to help. There are many things we can do to help. You don’t need to donate a big amount to help. Just sit down with a homeless person and talk to them. Showing that we care about can motivate them to make a change.

It is a huge problem not only in the United States but also around the world. An individual encounters homelessness when they lose their house or is born without one. The homeless in New York City and most likely everywhere else are also committing crimes. These crimes may vary from stealing to harassing people and these crimes make their whole population look bad and prevent people from helping them. The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
The United States is a successful, marvelous, wealthy, and powerful country. However, one major issue that our country has, is homelessness. It is a sorrow for those who walk down this phenomenal country to witness the homeless lined up on the streets begging every traveler for a dollar. About 565,000 people are homeless a year. Furthermore, about forty six percent of this population live with a mental illness or disorder, therefore causing drained health care and shelter resources because they cannot compensate for what they receive.
The emergence of lifespan perspective is due to increased average life expectancy and the healthier elderly. In twentieth century, the better nutrition, sanitation, and more knowledge about medicine have increased the average life expectancy much more than before. According to the textbook, average expectancy was 50 years old back in 1900. Today, it has increased to 78.5 in United States, and it is even higher in other countries. In fact, there is chance that it could reach 84 by 2050.

Homeless shelters allow for people to have a safe environment to live in and temporarily gets them off the streets. Also, shelters give homeless people the opportunity to get back on their feet and work towards getting a job and ultimately a permanent home. Although some may argue that homeless shelters are expensive and do not change or prevent behavior that leads to living on the streets, we still need to step forward and help these poor people sleeping out in those cold winter nights. Communities should develop plans to help these people in need and give them a place to stay instead of living on the streets. Society has failed to support these people in need because of the primary focus being on the more fortunate who can give back to the society. I say that the homeless should be prioritized over the wealthy because they are more in need than they are. This being said, we can never blame the individual for what society has put them through. I do believe that if society gives homeless people a second chance they deserve they could strive to make their lives better with our help.
