As time progresses, companies have to change. Charities over time have made the shift from operating like organizations to businesses. The Kids Company was founded in 1996 in London by Camila Batmanghelidjh. The Kids Company was large in size providing emotional and educational support to around thirty-six thousand deprived children and employing over six hundred people. They also had eleven centers and were doing work with forty schools. The Kids Company focused on the idea that a child’s environment influences how they grow up. The Kids Company sought out to be a positive force in a child’s life. They were also caught exaggerating the number of children they reached out to. They claim they were helping 13,500 people in 2008 to 16,500 in 2010 and then all of a sudden in 2011 they were reaching out to 36,000 children. Since 2011 The Kids Company claims to have helped the same amount of kids. The big raise in children raised lots of suspicion. A reported 8,264 of 36,000 kids received no support from the charity. In response the claim made by The Independent, a London based newspaper; the charity says that these children were part of the group because "the children benefitted from the knock-on effects of helping their classmates." The Metropolitan police announced an investigation of the charity on July 30th, 2015. Charges included sexual offenses, child abuse, and exploitation. Since 2009 the Charity Commission of England and Wales has been sending warning notices stating that the company’s finances don’t match up to its size. In 2013, the London School of Economics said The Kids Company has “limited and unstable funding.” In summer 2015, the government decided to stop giving its annual money to the Kids Company, without this they were unable to go through with reconstructing their sites. Allegations were made against the Kids Company of sexual offenses, child abuse, and exploitation. When donors started hearing all this, they stopped giving money to the charity. Also, sources claimed that their finances did not match up to the amount of people they catered too. Investigations were done in order to probe into matters further. Eventually, it came to knowledge that the company was allocating within itself which is not practiced through charities. As more people reported the alleged corruption of the organization, donators kept pulling their donations overtime. In August of 2015, the organization stated that there were too many children in need of help, and that there were no sufficient funds to cover all of them.
