The targeted audience of the movie is geared towards young adults. The genre of the movie is fantasy/thriller; movies categorized by this genre are usually seasonal thriller movies that most people watch during autumn or the Halloween season. Other movies in this genre include Monster House and The Nightmare Before Christmas. The theme teaches the audience of any age valuable lessons about many values a person would want to have in life. A few lessons that were expressed in the film were do not judge a book by its cover, be careful what you wish for, and that life is not always going to be perfect. These lessons are very valuable lessons in life that all young adults should know.
However, the audience might miss this amazing aspect of the film because most people do not think about what the movie is trying to tell them when they watch a movie. The majority of people watch a movie for entertainment or something to do, not to learn a lesson or to analyze a movie. There are three main lessons that this movie is trying to show the viewers.
The first lesson is do not judge a book by its cover. This is shown in the movie by Coraline making a quick judgement about Wybie and her neighbors. At first Coraline did not want anything to do with Wybie and her neighbors. Throughout the movie Coraline had encounters with her neighbors and Wybie. The more encounters she has the more she realized that they are pretty cool people. In the end of the movie, Coraline became friends with Wybie and her neighbors and got together and helped planted a garden. Lastly, the atmosphere that the movie brings the views is an exceptional aspect to this interning film. The atmosphere of this movie makes your feel like you are a part of this film. If you watch this movie with the light off it will make you feel like you are in the movie as if you were a fly on the wall. The atmosphere sets the mood of this movie. The mood gives the viewer an eerie feel through the whole movie. The mood also makes the viewer feel an adrenalin and they are on edge of what is going to happen next.
